ASA RUNGE - 2014 BASEBALL SEASON
2014 – Asa started his 11U season with the Division I Legends Prospect Team, the top team in the New England area. As their starting pitcher, the Legends Prospect Team mowed down the competition. There was talk that they would have to play the top 12U teams to get adequate competition. Asa again lead the league in batting with a .603 batting average, a .642 OBP and 14 homeruns. He also lead the league as a pitcher with a devastating 96 strikeouts and a 1.17 ERA. No one could touch his 75 MPH fastball.
As an 11U, Asa also earned a position on the most recognized and exclusive 12U tournament team in all of New England - the Eastern Mass Allstars. This team puts the top 12U players from all around New England into one team and for one purpose - to WIN! This team won the qualifying Championship for the National Youth Baseball Championship (NYBC) in Yaphank, NY. This is where the top 20+ teams from around the country compete to see which one is the best. This team also won Cooperstown, NY Dreams Park National American Tournament Championship (NATC) in 2014.
Asa also made the 12U Team USA National Open Roster as one of the top 112 players in the country. Asa was also selected as one of the top players in the county to play in the Power Showcase at Tropicana Field in Florida. Asa ended the 2014 11U season traveling around the country to various National Tournaments guest pitching for teams in the semi-final or championship brackets as a hired gun.
